The charts in this blog are taken from the 1981 issues of Record World Magazine and Billboard Magazine Disco Dance Charts in the USA, and Record Business in the UK.

Record World was a U.S. music industry trade magazine published from 1946 to April 1982 and included The Disco File, a chart of the top rated disco songs of the week. The Disco File appeared in Record World Magazine from 1974 to 1982, and was compiled by Vince Aletti from 1974 to 1978, and then Brian Chin from 1978 to 1982.

Record Business was a London based trade magazine for the music business founded in 1978 by Brian Mulligan and Norman Garrod. Record Business Magazine compiled various charts for independent radio stations from a variety of sources, including Disco and Progressive/Futurist Disco charts. In February of 1983 it was absorbed into its rival magazine, Music Week.
