This Billboard Hot Dance Chart from the first week of October 1984 is a fabulous compliment to the Hi-NRG tracks being played in by DJs British gay clubs. Sheryl Lee Ralph’s ‘InThe Evening’ became one of the most enduringly popular gay disco hits of all time, whilst from this chart, DJs would mix the likes of Stephanie Mills, Chaka Khan and Frankie Goes To Hollywood into the current stock of Hi-NRG tracks.
